TCU Retiree Award Recipients

TCU Treasure Awardee 2025

Kay Higgins was awarded the “TCU Treasure Award,” at the TCU Retirees May meeting. This award, which was created in 2018, is given to a faculty or staff member for exemplary service during their career at TCU. This year the award recognizes the 43 years of committed service Kay gave to TCU. Arriving on campus in 1977 intent on earning a master’s degree from Brite Divinity School, a part-time job in housing morphed into 16 years working as a full-time area coordinator in housing.

Kay then moved into a newly created position, directing new student orientation. She also became the first director of what is now the Gender Resource Office, which supports women in various ways. Kay was a mainstay in Student Development Services. Serving as a mentor to many, she is known for embodying the characteristics of what it means to be a “true horned frogs.”

Linda Moore Service Award 2025

The second award was given to outgoing Retirees’ Association President Rich Enos. The Linda Moore Service award was created in 2024. Named in honor of Linda, who in 1977 joined TCU as the second member of the then Social Work Program. Linda was passionate about sports, and even more so about the student-athletes who played those sports, so much so that she persuaded the Provost to establish an athletic academic services program. It focused on student-athletes with learning differences who were not on track to graduate.

The Linda Moore award recognizes is a TCU faculty or staff member for their exemplary accomplishments and contributions made during retirement, and Rich is “richly” deserving (pun intended) of this award. He retired as the Quondam Holder of the Lillian Radford Chair of Rhetoric and Composition and, among others, his previous awards include as the Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Achievement as a Creative Teacher and Scholar and a Piper Professor Award, the highest state-wide recognition given to university professors. Rich remains an active scholar in retirement, continuing to conduct research and publish on rhetoric by the examination of archeological materials. And of course, he served with distinction as President of the Retirees’ Association in the 2024-2025 academic year.
